Prisoners must be given a CHANCE :)

A prisoner must be given a chance? You will be shock enough after reading my topic. Do not be too stereotype, do not be too judgmental person first. All you need is open up your mind, and take a breath to think deeply about what I'm going to say and maybe my opinion is contradict from yours but first of all, let me express my views.

After read the newspaper excerpt dated 3 March, 2013 taken from News Strait Times. I would like to give my response towards "Prisoners to get varsity-level courses" column. 

From my point of view, general public does not giving any chance towards ex-prisoners as they think the person might redo his or her mistakes in the past. Listen up fellas, try to put yourself in their shoes first. You might feel how does it hurt just because of public's narrow-minded. 

I do believes what The Prisoners Department do is a good thing to be done as they implementing several measures to enhance the skills and educational level of prisoners in order to increase their competency after serving their sentence. This might be helpful and give a lots of benefit to them. When they are going out from the jail, at least they have 'something' or ability to show and use them to find a job. 

By one of the phrase in the context, "Wahab (Home Affair Ministry's deputy secretary general) said the department earned RM17 million from the sale of handicraft made by prisoners last year". This sentence showed that by giving the prisoners a skill, they can help in increasing our country profit and improve economy level by doing at least handicraft even though they are in the jail.

Prisoners also need a higher education too just like what The Open University do, they offered 10 scholarships in various field to the prisoners. This can give them a chance to improve their education. Some of them is brilliant actually but the previous past mistake be the obstacle. So, by providing this chance, it can help them to be an educated person in the future and pushing away their past.

I believe people can make a new assumption towards prisoners by not looking at their past mistakes. By giving a golden chance to them, it can make their life better and they might not repeat their mistake again. Everybody change. Remind that in mind. Do not judge them. They are also need help and support from us. No one is perfect and it is a lie if we does not made a wrongdoings, so forgive them and motivate them :)

S.T.E.R.E.O.T.Y.P.I.N.G

In my opinion, STEREOTYPING is about of our thought and making assumption towards someone or a group of people by judging based on their appearance, characteristics, heritage, skin color and others without knowing them. Usually they judge from the negative side. That is what we called Stereotyping.

Being stereotype same with prejudice and discrimination. People might not be realize that they are being stereotype slowly.  But it is something that most of people find it difficult to avoid from doing. They are still judge one another and making bad assumption even though they know they should not do it as nobody is perfect in this planet. They should remind themselves.

There are some common stereotype examples such as being racist with the Africans people because of their skin type of color, this is what the Americans do. Being stereotype between gender just like people always said men can do something better than women and men always think women is a weak person. Stereotyping also exist in a group of individuals like people think that all teenagers are rebel and not easy to be teach. All these thing is wrong. 

I do believes that most of us are still being stereotyping these day and make it one of their behavior. They tend to be stereotyping beside looking at the good side. Negative thinking making negative assumption. Stereotyping is usually bad minded and does not always be right. Sometimes the person is better than us but because of this type of thinking, we reject them from the first glimpse.

Whatever it is, people always choose to be stereotyping. It is normal for them even though it will give lots of badness. 

We should look at ourselves in front of the mirror before started to judge people around us. All the human beings is the same. The differences between us is our belief, culture, knowledge and others that may lead to the cross thinking and misunderstanding about someone. As a one of the God's creature, we cannot blame others why they are being like that, why people chose to be like that. Maybe there is a lot of question in our mind about someone, we still cannot judge them unless we are God. Because everybody have their own rights too.

So, by trying to avoid being stereotyping, you should not look at others' weakness, but try to figure out why they are choose to be like that and do not making any perception towards what they are doing until you started to knowing them :)

My Senior and Mine Expectation towards Critical Literacy Subject :)

I've heard so many comments and grievances from my seniors about Critical Literacy, they said this subject is one of the killer subject in this semester. If we lose direction and lost, in addition to failed think critically, we cannot get success to in this Critical Literacy subject.Whether we can accept their perception or not, we are the only one who can think wisely and change our own mindset towards something.

My seniors used to said this subject is difficult and can make your pointer getting worst for the semester. From my view, if we can understand deeply about this matter, we can go beyond and change others' mindset. We need to use our both left and right brain wisely in order to make a right opinion towards something and this is what we called think critically, we had to think until the maximum before we start to judge.

They are also said that we need to put a lot of time and effort. Now, this comment can be considered. As a student, it is pretty sure to put our whole effort and time towards subjects that we take. It is not enough to learn it simply, we do need a lot of time to think critically as the subject is not easy to understand. Sometimes what we think is not always right, sometimes wrong, but sometimes there is a right also. So, by put a lot of time and big effort, we can improve our whole galore thinking skills instead of polishing the critical thinking skill.
